So I've been working all Christmas break and today I worked with a new employee 'George'. The first time i met him he said something so crude that I can't even repeat it on my keyboard... then I told him that I'm studing to become a minister... Well his tune quickly changed...

Flash forward to today...

Do you guys ever get those people who just start asking questions... but you start getting a feeling that behind the question there is an agenda? Questions like...

What translation of the Bible do you read?...

Do you believe in aliens?...

Do you know the intergalactic conspiricy behind Bill Hybels, and Rick Warren success?... (Ok he didn't say intergalactic)

Did you know that 90% of aids infected people in the world got it because they are &*#*%& (Gay)?...

MEMO TO ALL LIVING ON PLANET EARTH

NEVER... get into a discussion/debate with a fundamentalist baptist! lol... this is how are discussion went...(G- George, D- Me), keep in mind he is a red neck, nerdy kinda guy.

G- Do you use other translations other than the King James because you want to push your own agenda, and not what is in scripture?

D- Umm no...

G- Because King James is the only Bible that God has ordained.

D- George do you know Greek? ... I happen to know that there are better translations from the original text than the King James.

G- oh... (insert nerd coment here mixed with arrogance trying to make me feel dumb)

G- Ezekiel 1 has aliens in it.

D- Pardon me?

G- Ya they are beings from another planet ....

D- O....K.....

G- Did you know that Hybels, and Warren, are supported by luciferians (Satanist bank accounts)?

D- no their not George.

G- How do you think their churches got so rich?... it is a plot by the luciferians.

D-?? (Dazed, and laughing to myself)

G- (snort) just follow the money trail.

D- George i think they got all their money from the tens of thousands of people that attend their churches.

G- Nope, Luciferians!

G- I heard you preached on Aids and Africa, what do you think of that (Aids).

D- I think they need as much help as they can get.

G- 90% of Aids comes from Gays. It's a conspiracy the 'Gays' are trying to cover up.

D- You're a bigot, give your head a shake.

SUMMARY:

Funadamentalist baptists sound like a cult to me. It has been a month into school now and I am taking eight classes, homework is going extreamly well and the leaves on the trees are changeing into a pluthra of colors. Life is beautiful. hmmm life... It is time to change again i think ... ill change for the possitave... This is a descision we all have to make in our lives numorous times. people change alot in their life. it is time to become someone i'll be in my future. Changing for the possitave is an event and an evolution. Maybe it's just indifferant. My life as a Jesus follower seems to be ... i guess kinda stagnant.

This is my theory.

The life of a person around the age of college seems to be cluttered with thought, not just thoughts but theories and ethics and disagreement and educated debates with all your friends (it seems) ... I hate these things- Not because i don't want to be informed, or I'm not intelectual enough to 'hang' with people who are very logical, but because logic and 'intellectualism' can consume your life.

for example

People need stability. One of my core values as a Christian is helping and caring for the poor. This is something i've practiced since i was a baby Christian. another core value is relational ministry.... but... When ever i go to a soup kitchen or volunteer with organizations that help the poor it seems that i am not very consistant... because well i guess (i realize this may not be a valid excuse) life is just so buzy that when i do go to help local ministries or go by myself people are always differant and i can never seem to build friendships. So i guess even though i'm "sowing seeds" this non-relational form of ministry is not very effective. (Can anyone tell I'm a results oriented person?) ... So i either stop doing that or i don't do it as much. Because i need to spend alot of time doing something well, than little time doing alot of things mediocrely.

This gets back to all these ethical logical conversations because we always talk about the right thing to do...

Jesus tells us a parable of a father asking 2 sons to do something. One son says 'yes' the other says 'no'. The son that said yes had good intentions but didnt do what he was told. the son that said no had rebelion in his heart, but in the end did what his father said. Which son is the father more pleased with?

I've stopped doing alot of things, and careing about some things because intellectually i see flaws in them, but it seems I've lost some of the good things i did.

One of the themes in the book of James is "Faith without works is dead" most of the time we say this is for nominal Christians who don't do 'Christian things', but i think the Holy Spirit is saying something far deeper than that. This is a warning for seasoned ministers and comitted Christians. Saying dont stop doing good things (even if there maybe flaws (sometimes we can even see mysterys as a flaw))

Too much analysis and not enough action can cause deadness...

GOOD NEWS- "I am the ressurection and the life." - Jesus -

hmmm I'm done now

Tristan & Isolde

The 2 nerdyest things i do is:
1)blog
2)Go to movies by myself.
I have discovered i LOVE going to watch movies by myself i don't really know why, but there is something invigerating about sitting down in a theater by myself and watching a film.
Last night i went to see the chick flick Tristan & Isolde, and it was awesome! But the end of the movie made me stop and think about a question the movie brings up.
What is greater?- The love of a woman, or the call of a king?
This movie is quite scandalous, and maybe you won't understand the question to the extent that i'm getting at unless you see the movie.

Here is a vague attempt to describe the root issue.
I know you will obey the ones you love and submit to them... but what is greater. I'm one of those guys that when I'm moved tears come to my eyes, but this time oddly I was shaken by my lack of tears. I went to this service in Calgary and the speaker said during communion, "Maybe you can't come to the Lord's supper without tears in your eyes." The odd thing was there were no tears from me.

...We forget so easy...

Lately i've been in disscution with friends about the concept of 'worship' how worship is not just about songs, but a life condition. Not just one action but many. basicly (explaining a broad topic) worship is a concious action to awknowlege God in every aspect of life and know that He is God (know truth and respond).

... We forget so easy...

The most important event in my life was not to pray a prayer as a young child to ask the Lord in my heart. It was the day I noticed that the cross was for me. The most precious thing in my life is the death and reserection of Jesus. The knowledge of easter weekend 2000 years ago (when i really remember it) brings me to tears every time.

...We forget so easy...

Communion is about remembering reconciliation... The Cross... and the life of Christ who loves us. This may seem fluffy and un inspireing, but the knowledge of the cross should move our hearts everyday. Tears came to my eyes last night at supper because I remembered. Eating a meal for the Lords supper is significant because it is what the meal represents that really sustains us. We think it is the food that we eat at a meal that sustains us. Christians let me tell you its not food that sustains you.

...We forget so easy...

(I'm frustrated right now because I know many will read this and forget within one minute)

...We forget so easy...

Communion is more than an event that happens when you take the emblems at church. Like worship communion can and should happen everyday. when you eat remember. Communion is about the new covenant remember the covenant (promise) God made to abraham? The new covenant is God's special promise to His people.

...Jesus knew We forget so easy...

We should remember the cross naturally, but Jesus knew we forget so easily. So He instituted His supper so we remember easier. ...Remember everyday.

...Don't forget...

I'm starting my own denomination

Dude's Brett's comment on my last post inspired me... (prov 20:19)

I want to tell all of you who read this blog that gossip is extreamly destructive. I know that I may be just as guilty as the next guy, but be safe with other people's feelings. It says else where in proverbs that those who are accused of gossip will never regain their good reputation. I know that 'information' travels quickly among Christians especially. Gossip becomes destructive when you either start medeling in other people's lives or if it changes your opinion of someone else. Here is a bit of advice, "A truly wise person uses few words; a person with understanding is even-tempered." (prov 17:27) Close your mouth! Trust me your opinion of someone else is not needed, and is not useful to anyone!!! As a person who enjoys having many friends i have discovered that those who talk to much really arn't worth having (they are good for aquantances)... Many people think they are mature, but they are not.

This Summer

Hey everyone! ... or the two of you who actually read my blog. I've decided to write a little bit of what I'm doing this summer and the vision I believe God has given me for the youngadults of Red Deer. This summer I'm doing my vanguard internship @ Living Stones Church (yet again)... I interned with the former youth pastor Jason Fluery for 2 years before this, but this time I'm working with young adults pastor Mark stevenson. One thing about ministries that frustrates me (alot!) is that they tend to slow down during the summer. The last couple of years God has shown me the potential of summer ministry in Red Deer, but for some reason there arn't many ministries who do things during the summer. So Get Ready Red Deer!! I hope to connect with others in Red Deer (Those who know about potential core) and i feel evangelism and out door services are going to be a big push. There are so many of you in Red Deer with a heart to see the Lord move in our city. I want to challenge us to read Isaiah 61, and declare the wonderful works of God as the disciples did in Acts 2. Let's connect not be so self centred and together pray and ask the Lord what he would have us do. Even though there is a vision prayer is the key.

Thanks Robbie!!!

Ever Since Robbie added me to his blog links I've gotten a couple comments on my blog that's awesome.... New thought.... I get anoyed very easily. I literally want to tell some people to shut up, and leave me alone! But remember that story Jesus told about the speck of dust in one persons eye, and the guy with the plank in his eye trys to remove the speck... it doesn't work... Bible college is FULL of those who have large planks in their eyes, if you are reading this and nodding your head remember.... I mean you. STOP your heart is good, but your opinion and correction for others should only be given if it is asked for!!!
